How does Life Coaching differ from Therapy?

Individual therapy focuses on you gaining a deeper understanding of your emotional issues and gives you coping strategies to help you handle difficult situations. My life coaching, in addition to the above, will provide for you a safe space to confront your mental and emotional challenges, uncover limiting beliefs and fears that create obstacles to your well-being, equip you with  skills, tools and strategies to play the game of life, and support you in being successful at living life in a way that positions you for the WIN.

Do I need therapy or life coaching?

It depends on your current needs.

First off, remember that therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists are considered healthcare professionals. On the other hand, life coaches are wellness professionals. A therapist will help you zero in on your past trauma to help you heal. They’ll also help you come up with healthy coping mechanisms for any mental health disorders you may have. Therapy usually focuses on introspection to help you resolve this past trauma. A therapist will analyze your past and try to understand how it contributes to the way you behave today.

Life coaches are focused on what’s ahead in your future. They’ll work with you to uncover problematic behaviors and mindsets that are stopping you from getting where you want to go. But they’ll also help you set realistic goals and work with you to achieve them.

If you have a mental illness or disorder, you need help from a therapist, psychologist, or psychiatrist. Same thing if you have trauma to overcome!

But if you want to work on yourself and start achieving more, if you're feeling stuck and desire more fulfillment out of your life, work with a life coach instead.

Here’s another way to put it:

If you want to feel better, find a therapist.

If you want to do better, hire a life coach.

Can relationship coaching save my marriage?

While relationship coaching can assist in unraveling complex emotional situations, it does not claim to be a savior for marriages. Coaching serves to clarify issues within relationships by distinguishing between elements within our control and those that are not. It illuminates the concealed corners of resentment, fear, and avoidance, bringing them into conscious awareness.
Even in cases where only one partner seeks the guidance of a coach, their release from mental anguish may alleviate the overall strain on the marriage.
Coaching frequently yields positive outcomes for marriages, but it's crucial to recognize that each marital union is unique, with its distinct challenges. Thus, it is impossible to predict whether a marriage will necessarily become stronger through the coaching process.

Can relationship coaching help with family issues?

Relationship coaches assist families in navigating difficult issues, but they do not make guarantees of "keeping families together." Coaching serves as a means to bring a family's challenges into the open, where they can be openly examined. It can aid individuals in understanding their role within the family dynamic, distinguishing between what is their responsibility and what belongs to others. Even if only one family member opts for coaching, it often leads to improved relationships among family members, as it addresses long-standing emotional issues. Families may grow closer through the coaching process, if the individuals are open to seeing things from a different perspective, which a relationship coach can help with.

How do I start?

We begin with a video conference consultation call.  This consultation gives me the opportunity to discover what particular challenges you are dealing with and what you desire to accomplish from working with a Life/Relationship Coach.  It also gives you the opportunity to connect with my energy and discern whether you feel we would be a good fit.

Is life coaching affordable?

Absolutely! Every situation is different, so I offer different options according to your needs. You may find that single sessions are better for you at a determined moment depending on the goal. Package programs will save you money! The more sessions you buy the more discount you will get. I also offer flat fees varying from $250 - $6000. My 30-minute consultation calls are $125 where together we will identify your coaching needs. Schedule your consultation here.

How long does Life Coaching last?

This will depend on what you want to achieve with your coaching. In order to achieve a major change, we look at smaller goals, that need to be reached on each session, to move you closer to your overall goal. For some people this may take as little as six sessions, and for others it will be more. It is a very personal decision based on your individual goals.

How are the sessions conducted?

Coaching typically begins with an assessment consultation via a teleconference call. This assessment session is designed to assess the individual’s current challenges and establish desired outcomes. Subsequent coaching sessions may be conducted via Zoom video conference or in person.

What are your qualifications?

I am a
certified Master Life Coach, Relationship Coach, Recovery Coach (substance abuse) and have a degree in Christian Counseling.  My qualifications and spiritual gifts enable me to connect with you in the place of your spirit and soul to effect healing and resolve.  As a Master Intuitive and 2nd Degree Reiki practitioner, I am a discerner of energy and spirit and am not only able to tap into the physical side of your challenges, but also the spiritual side, getting to the root and heart of challenges and issues.

Is your life coaching christian based?

My coaching and counseling is spiritual-based. I am not focused on any particular religion. I am open to coaching anyone who is experiencing life, relationship, emotional, mental or spiritual challenges, as long as they desire to be more, do more and have more in their life.

Do you work with clients abroad?

Yes.  I conduct coaching sessions by way of Zoom video conference, telephone call, and on a case-by-case basis, in the convenience of your home or office. I am based in the Houston Texas area but have international clients and clients located across the continental United States.

How is life coaching different from counseling?

Life coaching helps you to formulate a plan to deal with your present and your future. I do not provide therapy. My coaching is designed to help you move through and move beyond your life challenges. My method often calls for the need to combine counseling and coaching. Counseling usually deals with problems, issues and soul healing, and requires delving into the past to get a clearer understanding of the present challenges.

How do I know if I need counseling?

While everyone at some time or another experiences these feelings, if they are continually present and unreasonably interfere with your quality of life then consulting a counselor might be necessary. Because my intention is to get to the core root of the issues, I have been able to help clients that have not received successful help from others.
If you feel "stuck" in any of these feelings, I suggest that you give me a call:
Depressed
Anxious
Irritable
Self-critical
Powerless
Angry
Guilty
Grief
Self-conscious
Low self-esteem
Low self-worth
Empty
Resentful
Sad
Insecure
Unfulfilled
Do you offer counseling sessions?

Yes.

What types of counseling sessions do you offer?

I work with individuals and couples and my specialty is mental and emotional wellness and family and relationship services. I help clients...
  • Develop healthy, satisfying relationships in all aspects of their lives.
  • Develop coping strategies as a parent.
  • Work through the feelings of loss due to divorce, separation, break-up, death, miscarriage or infertility.
  • Recover from childhood traumas which may include physical, emotional, or sexual abuse.
  • Come to terms with hurtful or dysfunctional families of origin.
  • Understand their life path and how their experiences are connected to their life purpose.
  • Tap into a greater sense of  well-being and inner peace.
  • Let the S.H.I.T. (Shame, Hurt, Insecurities and Triggers) of the past go.

What is your style as a counselor?

My style is interactive and intentional.  I set intentions with my clients for their participation. I can only work with you to the degree that you allow me to, hence it is very important to me that my clients feel they are in an atmosphere that is safe and judgement-free. I approach every session from a place of love, connection, compassion, empathy and understanding.  All of my sessions have a spiritual undertone to them and the work I do is from the inside to the out in both my counseling and life coaching styles.

Are there advantages to working with a life coach whose background is in counseling?

Yes. As a Life Coach I really understand people, the dynamics of life, and how to move forward to accomplish your desires and goals. As a Counselor I operate from a space of intuition, insight and love. My acquired skills from both fields enable me to bring a great degree of wisdom and insight in how I work with my clients. My clients experience a great degree of personal growth in their work with me. My intention to connect with you in your heart and soul space assures that empathy and compassion are always present.

Does life coaching require a lot from me?

To gain the most from life coaching it requires your effort and full participation. I am here to support your journey and I can only help you to the degree that you are willing to do your part. Life coaching is not just about learning, by in large it's about growth and personal development. In order to be all you can be, to be the best version of yourself, there is work that you are going to have to be prepared to do. Our work together is you investing in your "better" for yourself. I give Life Work for you to do after every session.  Evolving and BE-coming is all about enjoying the process. Planning, action, and accountability are key factors to a successful life coaching relationship. I follow-up with my clients weekly and always remind you that I am on the journey WITH you. I am working with you to accomplish YOUR goals and desires. Remember... faith without WORKS produces nothing.

Is Life Coaching covered by insurance?

Unfortunately, life coaching is rarely covered, since it doesn’t fall under the umbrella of treating disorders that come with a diagnosis. Therapists treat disorders; life coaches don’t.

Also, life coaches aren’t regulated like therapists are. To become a therapist, you have to go through a specific education path and stay in regulation. If someone tries to hire a therapist who isn’t regulated, insurance providers won’t cover those expenses. And because life coaches aren’t regulated like therapists are, insurance providers cannot perform the same type of checks.
The only exception that may help you get life coaching covered is if your doctor prescribes life coaching directly.

Even though insurance providers don’t usually cover the cost of life coaching, it doesn’t mean the investment isn’t worth it. If you’re in a position to hire a life coach, it can be one of the most worthwhile investments you’ll ever make!

Do I need therapy or life coaching?

It depends on your current needs. First off, remember that therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists are considered healthcare professionals. On the other hand, life coaches are wellness professionals.

Therapy usually focuses on introspection to help you resolve past trauma. A therapist will analyze your past and try to understand how it contributes to the way you behave today.

On the other hand, life coaches are focused on what you are currently challenged with that's creating an obstacle to shaping the future you desire. They’ll work with you to uncover problematic behaviors and mindsets that are obstructing your forward progression. They also support you in setting realistic goals and work with you to achieve them.

Here’s another way to put it:

If you want to feel better find a therapist.

If you want to do better, be better and have better,
hire a life coach.

To feel good about your investment, find a life coach with whom you vibe on every level — someone who truly gets you. Synergy can make or break your relationship with a life coach. That’s why you should carefully consider your options when choosing one.
